Job Description:
The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) is looking for a new Egg Grader/Agriculture Inspector for the Division of Regulatory Services. A commodity grader analyzes raw food and other harvests to determine both its type and quality. The Division of Regulatory Services provides grading services which will ensure consumers quality shell eggs, poultry and wholesome egg products. In addition, regulatory services enforce standards and regulations throughout the egg and poultry industry.
Principal Duties:
The Regulatory Division of the department is very important to our state and what products we send throughout the state. The staff prides itself on ensuring wholesome, clean and uniform products are delivered to the public. We pride ourselves on the safety of our food supplies.

Job Description:

A commodity grader analyzes raw food and other harvests to determine both its type and quality. The Division of Regulatory Services provides grading services which will ensure consumers quality shell eggs, poultry and wholesome egg products. In addition, regulatory services enforce standards and regulations throughout the egg and poultry industry.
Principal Duties:
- Perform physical inspections of eggs, poultry and/or egg products.
- Surveillance of plant operations to ensure compliance.
- Obtain USDA licensure- PAID ON THE JOB TRAINING PROVIDED.
- Analyzes, summarizes and/or reviews data.
- Maintains detailed inspection records, prepares reports and attends to other. related administrative requirements.
- Interprets, clarifies, explains and applies agency policy and procedures, business. practices, federal or state laws and regulations, etc.
- Perform overtime work when required.
- Travel on occasion throughout the state.

- Position will be part time to full time hours, minimum 20 hours per week.
- Possible travel and over time.
- Exposure to adverse, inclement, and varying weather conditions
- Must be licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture.
- Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
- The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, defending oneself and/or others against physical attack.
- Valid driver license required to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per UCA53-3-202(1)(a).
