Job Description

Start your higher education publishing career at Macmillan. We are passionate about creating effective print and digital learning tools and resources for students, and we need someone like you. Assist in the administrative aspects of higher education publishing in the discipline of psychology. Assist with communication with authors and instructors, managing key content review programs, writing & editing reviews, creating JIRA tickets, schedules, and ISBN’s for projects, and processing relevant payments for freelancers and vendors. Editorial assistants help program managers prepare for key meetings through pulling relevant data and reports and assisting with logistics and execution.
Key responsibilities:

  • Recruit, communicate with, and help inform reviewer panels and key content contributors.
  • Contribute to and draft title and content review and market surveys.
  • Create JIRA tickets for titles.
  • Create ISBNs in Kloe.
  • Process payments for honoraria and vendor invoices.
  • Draft agreements and contracts with authors and contributors.
  • Create sales and adoption reports.
  • Create and manage project schedules.
  • Maintain and update data in key editorial systems.
  • Interact with key functional groups within the company (Sales, Production, Legal, etc.) and also with authors, instructors, and students.
  • Attend and support your program manager with select internal and external meetings.
  • Help find solutions and offer support for miscellaneous needs or tasks that arise in the day to day work of your program manager.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively and professionally with diverse stakeholders across departments
  • Experience tracking deadlines and deliverables
  • Initiative, curiosity, and follow-through
  • Highly organized in your approach to work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship or work experience with publisher
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or English
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working with shared documents on Google office suite
  • Event planning and event management experience
  • Must be able to concentrate and maintain detail-orientation in busy, open office environment. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and maintain calm and focus under stressful situations.
