GENERAL PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to ensure the accuracy and timely distribution of product deliveries made to the store by outside vendors which includes Harmons Distribution, DSD and warehouse vendors. This person will scan in product from outside vendors, ensure accuracy of invoices, assist with special orders and new item requests, conduct quarterly inventory and provide exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
  • Ensures the quality and freshness of all products delivered to the store by third party vendors
  • Responsible for scanning in all product delivered to the store
  • Distributes product to the correct department as quickly and efficiently as possible
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of invoices associated with deliveries and that correct costs have been applied
  • Sorts and distributes invoices to department managers
  • Receives and distributes parcels delivered to the store by Fed Ex, UPS, Ontrac, etc.
  • Communicates with vendors regarding special orders, displays and ad items
  • Responds to new item requests from customer
  • Conducts quarterly inventory
  • Monitors tonnage for compactors to ensure safety for customers while traveling
  • Ensures credits are being stored and credited by vendors in a timely manner
  • Ensures that all Harmons associates are following safety guidelines as outlined by multiple policies
  • Organize Food Bank, reclaims and go back items
  • Responsible for keeping a clean and well organized back room
  • Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
  • Completes assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Communicates openly and frequently with department managers and the Store Director
  • Sets a professional and positive example to others
  • Assists as needed to ensure the success of the store as a whole

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with grocery and dairy stocking as needed
  • Answers incoming phone calls to the store as needed
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or GED preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic math skills
  • Working knowledge of stocking and product rotation procedures
  • Harmons Forklift Certification and ability to train other associates
  • Wide knowledge of all products provided by the store
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with and manage diverse groups of people
  • Ability to appropriately and professionally handle conflict
  • Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success as well as the success of your team
  • Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized skills and techniques

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to cold, hot, slippery and wet conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds from location to location
