The Chief Digital Transformation Office (CDTO) offers an opportunity to shape and drive VMware’s Digital Transformation to enable Operations to scale and support VMware’s growth.

We are a core team, responsible for Enterprise Architecture with the goal to accelerate Digital Transformation of VMware + M&A business portfolio & Technology platforms to meet the strategic goal of $20B by designing scalable solutions and removing obstacles to current and future transformation initiatives

As Finance Domain Architect in the core team, you will analyze, design and architecture all business solutions within and around the existing ERP landscape, as well as enabling the SAP S/4 HANA landscape for Subscription/SaaS operating model and accelerating our future state for financial processes to SAP S/4 HANA.

Your deep knowledge on various domain expertise in finance domain and insights from industry best practices will enable us to accelerate our Subscription/SaaS Transformation journey.

What is primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

We have a distributed ecosystem of platforms and systems supporting our business goals and operations, the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) brings in various flavours of business models and their systems & platforms. The key goal for a Finance domain architect is to bridge the gap between business model disruption from the industry, evolving VMware Finance strategy and platform/solution choices.

This is a hands-on, techno-functional position for someone who can dive deep, serve as the conduits between businesses and technology, providing recommendations for leveraging SAP features in the most efficient ways to meet business needs in a multi-ERP environment. You will support ongoing project activities and deliver innovative solutions that will increase our operational agility and enable continued growth. The SAP Finance Architect also researches and develops new solution, including POCs, on both SAP and non-SAP platform.

Your deep understanding and domain expertise in the latest SAP functionality around SAP BRIM, SAP FICA, and SAP FICO will enable us to accelerate the future state transition effectively.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

In next 6-12 months it is important to

• Develop and recommend prototype practical business solutions in SAP landscape within the specific domains of SAP BRIM, SAP FICA, SAP FI-AR, SAP FI-AP and SAP FI-GL in SAP S4 HANA.

• These recommendations and pilots will take into consideration best-fit solutions for our M&A, Perpetual and Subscription business models.
• Collaboratively define and drive M&A platform integration strategy and roadmap
• Accelerate M&A onboarding to leverage VMW Finance process, systems and data
• Working closely with product teams, understand latest features, integrate them into the end-to-end business capabilities & standardization for financial treatment like revenue recognition.
• Work with CDTO teams to discover problems, drive product definition, design and prototype to create valuable, desirable and feasible solutions for finance domain.
• Become a thought leader in Finance domain to drive VMware’s digital transformation & SaaS Transformation.
• Share ideas, solicit feedback, and collaborate effectively, as part of a high-performing team, to enable all members to be successful.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• Perform analysis of VMWare business processes and propose end-to-end solutions that are the best fit based on SAP Platform (SAP BRIM, SAP FICA, SAP FI-AR, SAP FI-AP and SAP FI-GL in SAP S4 HANA)
• Applying your deep knowledge of finance, bookings and revenue recognition expertise in context of various evolving business models viz. Software, Hardware and Subscription business models.
• Applying expertise of SAP Functional Domains including but not limited to FI-CA, Core Finance and Controlling Areas (FICO, AR/AP, AA, PS, PM, PA), Depreciation Standards, Internal Order Settlement, Data Conversion and Asset Accounting (AA) to solve business problems.
• Architecting solutions for SAP NetWeaver and SAP HANA landscapes
• Align priorities and deliver the Product/Project Vision and scope and negotiate the right MVS (minimum viable scope).
• Provide direction to development teams for custom solution realization and implementation; You will drive blue-printing, planning, design, testing, documentation and execution.
• Responsible for ensuring the quality of the solution
• Guide and influence team members to accomplish the team’s technical architecture and solution designs.
• Driving adoption of newer cutting-edge technology within the organization through knowledge sessions.
• Work closely with other extended SAP SMEs, development teams, Product Managers and Business Stakeholders to ensure success.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

You will report into the Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture but can expect to interact frequently with the Chief Technology Officer, IT and Enterprise Architects. As part of a relatively flat organization you will have full ownership of your domain. We encourage architects to be self-starters and drive initiatives taking complete end-to-end ownership working with cross functional teams and direct interactions with CIO leadership.

Our expectation is that you will build skills over time and take advantage of such diverse team environment to develop into a well-rounded business leader who will strategize, design and execute future state architecture blue-print (Business capabilities, Business model and Platform) in accordance with CDTO/CIO/CTO Priorities. You will help modernize enterprise apps ecosystem through processes (DevOps/CI-CD) and app modernization design patterns. You will be responsible for enterprise governance, compliance and design scalable solutions for distributed systems (400+ on-prem and 100+ SaaS solutions).
