Job Description

Working as a dog walker is the ideal job for someone who loves caring for dogs and being outside. Dog walking allows you to work independently, make lots of furry friends, and often keep a flexible work schedule. Plus, both you and the pooches will get fresh air and exercise.

We focus on off leash dog park groups with groups typically ranging in size from 4-7 dogs. A vehicle and supplies will be provided for you.

Currently looking for 1-2 days a week. Typical work day is about 6 hrs. Vehicle will be provided. We do also require a smartphone device.

Responsibilities

  • Control dogs of varying sizes and breeds. You’re comfortable being the boss of these dogs, keeping them safe, and not letting them walk you.
  • Schedule and meet with clients. Your schedule will be set for you but you may need to discuss with clients how to pick up their dogs and return them securely.
  • Walk. Even when it’s cold or rainy outside, you’re still ready to take the dogs out, and you’re familiar with routes and parks that are good for them.
  • Number one priority is safety for yourself and the dogs. Maintain a safe experience for the dogs while at parks and during transportation.
  • You’ll have access to clients homes. Act respectfully, responsibly and professionally.

Skills

  • Fitness. It’s important to be in good shape when managing several dogs in a group. There are pullers and some dogs may need to be loaded in and out of cars and crates, so be prepared for some heavy lifting too.
  • Driving. Must have current Washington driver’s license. Vehicle and supplies will be provided. While having a phone that can help in navigating to addresses we also stress the importance of following the law in regards to responsible phone usage while driving.
  • Communication skills. Daily communication is a core value and is key to our business. You may also have to contact and coordinate with clients when picking up dogs or for various other reasons.

Experience

No experience required. Being passionate about animals and having experience working with them is a great bonus. However, since we have access to clients’ homes and their dogs, it’s even more important to show that you’re trustworthy and responsible—we may require references and to pass a background check.
