Job Description

POSITION TITLE:

DISTRICT PERFORMING ARTS CENTER AND HELP DESK TECHNICIAN QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERFORMING ARTS CENTER TECHNICIAN

LOCATION: CANTON LOCAL


Purpose Statement:
This position is unique in that part of the job will be solely focused as the Sound Technician for our yearly performances and is responsible for maintaining computer and peripheral equipment in a safe and functional operating condition and resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for knowing how to use each piece of sound equipment involved in the productions
  • Be able to create and maintain clear cue sheets
  • Comfortable working with Performing Arts Staff and Students
  • Sufficient knowledge of Stage Lighting
  • Will travel between multiple buildings as needed
  • Flexible schedule throughout the year tailored around district performances
  • Priority scheduling around the PAC
  • Nights and weekends will vary throughout the school year, but are a part of the calendar
  • Maintain or schedule professional services for the PAC equipment
  • Maintain compliance with local and federal regulations
  • Be able to maintain equipment in the catwalk and surrounding stage areas


QUALIFICATIONS FOR HELP DESK TECHNICIAN:

  • Have Sound, Music, and Performance experience
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Hardware troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent software skills Mac, Windows, Chrome
  • Excellent knowledge of desktops, laptops, and other common peripheral devices
  • Experience creating and deploying disk images
  • Knowledge and experience with hardware warranty procedures
  • Ability to monitor computer technology service and repair
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs up to a height of 4 feet occasionally


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assesses malfunctions of computer hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and peripheral equipment operations.
  • Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Installs computer hardware, peripherals, and network equipment and application software for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operation.
  • Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. work order reports, inventory control, procedures, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
  • Repairs computers, peripherals, and software, requiring specialized computer and electronics repair skills for the purpose of maintaining computer and peripheral equipment in a safe and functional operating condition.
  • Requests quotations for the purpose of providing cost information, purchasing and securing items.
  • Transports a variety of items (e.g. equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials at job sites or bringing equipment to shop for repairs.
  • Upgrades computers, peripherals, network equipment and software applications (e.g. installation, testing, configuring, etc.) for the purpose of meeting the computer processing needs of the users.
  • Warehouses computer parts, supplies and materials for the purpose of establishing an inventory of items commonly required to repair computer hardware.
  • Potential to work with students as a facilitator in a classroom situation and/or media center (e.g. facilitating a self paced course, working with 3D printers and other STEM tools)


OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the district.

Reports directly to the Technology Director
Calendar will be addressed at the beginning of each school year and adjusted as events are added throughout the year.
Terms of Employment: 240 days
