Job Description
JOB SUMMARY - Responsible for all aspects of residence life, all services relative to residential students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the Office of Residence Life;
  • Interview and select students to serve as Resident Assistants;
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct training for Resident Assistants pertaining to duties and responsibilities;
  • Investigate reports of misconduct and violations of University regulations;
  • Attempt to resolve, negotiate, or eliminate areas of conflict.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Perform other related functions and duties as requested by Vice President for Student Affairs, such as, but not limited to:

  • Initiate and offer advice regarding social and recreational activities associates with residence hall living in association with the Office of Student Life;
  • Serve on University committees as assigned.

Proper discharge of duties will be measured in part by the number of mistakes made, the ability to work with other employees, and a demonstrated commitment to fulfilling the mission, purpose, and goals of Chowan University.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s Degree preferred)’
  • 4 years-experience in student affairs;
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate & manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Strong interpersonal skills (written & oral);
  • Ability to work unsupervised;
  • Willingness to work nontraditional & flexible hours;
  • Demonstrated ability to make formal presentations.
