Career Opportunity*
We are seeking an experienced Director of Information Technology to work at our corporate headquarters in Chesapeake, VA. The Director of IT directly manages all IT department employees. The director will report directly to the President & COO. As a small to mid-size business, our role requires a well-rounded, humble and proactive individual. Although a director-level position, it is vital to the overall success of our IT Department that the director still have hands-on involvement in the day-to-day functions.
Responsibilities:

  • Champions cybersecurity awareness and compliance by leading IT Council.
  • Maintains cybersecurity policy and a System Security Plan (SSP) for company information systems.
  • Conducts cybersecurity risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and periodic audits to assess compliance with the SSP.
  • Develops mitigation plans and/or remedies for emerging threats and audits findings.
  • Develops and monitors key performance indicators for information system performance and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Serves as the cyber security subject matter expert for corporate operations, best practices, emerging threats, regulations.
  • Oversees the operation of server systems.
  • Manages Enterprise-class backup and restoration system production data.
  • Provides supervision to junior members of the team for fulfilment of IT service desk functions.
  • Functions as the project manager for IT infrastructure and information system upgrades.
  • Operates and maintains information technology such as servers, mass storage, databases, SharePoint, wireless LANs, and cloud services.
  • Operates and maintains cybersecurity technology such as firewalls, vulnerability scanners, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.

Travel

  • This position requires a moderate level of travel.

Qualifications: Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, or related discipline.
  • Ten years of relevant experience. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.
  • An in-depth knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems, cloud services, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and server hardware is essential.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of backup applications.
  • Possesses ability to quickly identify problems and implement solutions with minimal downtime.
  • Must be able to lead a team or work independently as required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to utilize software and hardware diagnostic tools to identify, diagnose and repair complex problems and factors affecting systems performance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with the requirements of NIST 800-171 desired.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • One of the following certifications is desired:
  • Certified Information Systems Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Officer (CISSO)
  • PMP is desired.
  • ITIL certifications are desired.
  • Microsoft certification at Associate or Expert level desired.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
  • Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lbs.
