Job Description

Come join our team as the new Director of Human Resources, supporting the growth and evolution of our best-in-class team. As a team of one, this exciting opportunity requires a skillful balance of both championing the Mission, Vison, and Values of the company, while also working with the Owners to deliver administrative excellence to the entire organization.


Your primary responsibilities will include:
Leadership

  • Develop a deep understanding of the company’s core functions and departments, and provide the Owners with the HR perspective to aid and assist in operational decisions for growth and scale.
  • Work with the Owners to establish a program of market-based compensation, benefits and support for our employees to attract and retain top talent.
  • Partner with the leadership team to support a culture of superior execution, and advise the leadership on policies and practices that will further strengthen this.
  • Facilitate annual, individual goal setting and help strengthen a program that provides all employees professional, courteous, and genuine feedback from their respective managers.
  • Proactively address and advise managers on potential work performance, disciplinary, policy interpretation and compliance matters prior to escalating.
  • Work with the Owners on team building activities including collaboration, social gatherings, communication, and all-team meetings.
  • Take the lead on the company’s recruitment needs including marketing, screening, interviewing and hiring to attract outstanding candidates as new positions arise, and lead the on-boarding process for new employees.
  • Work with the Owners to ensure that all of our corporate workplaces implement appropriate post- pandemic standards to re-open (when appropriate) including janitorial cleaning, employee social distancing standards and/or any other practices to ensure the safety of our employees.

Administration

  • Annually audit and update (as necessary) the employee handbook, and ensure that all team members have access to and are debriefed on the company’s holistic benefits policies.
  • Act as the company’s primary point-of-contact for benefits (both internal and external) and maintain a working knowledge of the offerings including all insurance, retirement, and wellness programs.
  • Serve as the HR software expert- audit, troubleshoot, and maintain accurate team member information on 3rd party cloud-based software (i.e. Paylocity, Principal E-benefits, etc) for payroll and benefit processing.
  • Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential documentation for all personnel and employment related transactions throughout the employee life cycle including hires, promotions, leaves of absence, performance reviews, job descriptions, and terminations.
  • Maintain key statistical data on the workforce, and make clever use of numbers to help the Owners identify unforeseen trends and/or gain additional insights.
  • Partner with the Chief Compliance Office to ensure that each of the company’s legal entities comply with federal, state and local laws and that all employees are informed about statutory labor laws.
  • Collaborate with the Owners and the Corporate Controller in the preparation of the company’s annual budget (specifically as it relates to compensation, benefits and HR matters) and maintain a working knowledge of the company’s budget to actual performance with respect to these expenses.

  • Core knowledge and understanding of payroll, benefits, employment law and HR principles, policies, and procedures.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum 7 years of HR experience, with preference given to experience in mid-size organizations (<100 employees) and in investment management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, and HR information software.
