Job Description
BAE Systems Ship Repair is searching for a Remote Finance Director to manage the Ship Repair Finance/Accounting Business Systems. Support and serve as a strategic advisor and business partner to the Ship Repair leadership team. Engage weekly with functional, program, and corporate team members to manage testing, upgrades, oversight, and compliance of all Finance/Accounting business systems. This individual needs to be a self-starter with the ability to influence multi-functional team members to support large IT projects. Direct time and attention to upgrade and/or testing tasks along with managing daily responsibilities. This individual also needs to be able to collaborate and bring together team members to support integration projects and continue advancing the strategic business roadmap.

Location/Travel:
  • This position will be 100% Remote where you can work from home and be based out of anywhere in the US.
  • There may be domestic travel involved for meetings or events.

This role will include the following activities:
  • Act as strategic adviser to the business to bring forward business system changes and improvements within Finance/Accounting
  • Manage Finance/Accounting system design, integration, testing, changes, improvements, and approval processes (Primarily for Costpoint, Deltek T&E, and Power Track)
  • Attend meetings and collaborate with internal IT team and Deltek consultants regarding on-going issues, system reviews, patching requirements, business system roadmap, etc.
  • Ownership of monthly and quarterly security reviews for Ship Repair employees
  • Accountability for quarterly internal audit reviews
  • Act as Ship Repair liaison with the BAE Systems Resource Center team to include AP, Travel & Expense, and Payroll functional leads
  • Provide support to labor compliance activities and contractual labor setup process

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics with 12 years of relevant experience; or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Ship Yard, Defense, Government Contracting, or related industry
  • Experience in Finance/Accounting: Program Finance, General Accounting, Budgeting, Forecasting, and/or Financial Controls
  • Experience in Program/Project Management: develop and drive strategic plans and objectives
  • Experience in People Management: directing, developing, and mentoring staff
  • Experience in Deltek and/or Cost Point: system implementation, integration, testing, upgrade, improvement, or end-user
  • Capable of efficient and relevant decision-making
  • Able to provide objective leadership to cross-functional teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse work teams
  • Proficient in developing relationships across functional lines
  • Able to support change and drive process improvements
  • Able to formulate and present effective communications (orally and in written form)
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Graduate Degree a plus
  • Accounting Degree a plus
  • Experience in system implementation a plus
  • Experience in Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) consolidation projects a plus
  • Multi-disciplined financial background a plus
  • Experience in Ship Yard a plus
  • Experience in Earned Value management (EVM) a plus
  • Understanding of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) a plus
  • Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) a plus
  • Experience with Government Compliance, Disclosure Statements, and Pricing Requirements a plus
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment, interfacing with high-level internal and external leadership a plus
