Job Description

We are a family owned company located in South Florida that has been developing and manufacturing auto parts for aftermarket Suppliers and their leading brands for over 30 years. We’re looking for a Director that is ready to lead a team of passionate gearheads both here and in our wholly owned global subsidiaries.

The Director of Engineering will provide leadership of our global engineering teams by directly managing domestic engineers and assuming dotted line responsibility for global functional managers. The Director will also act as a resource to Executive Management and other team leaders.

Responsibilities include oversight of the following areas:

Product Development Engineering, QA and QC team responsibility

· Schedule global project resources to assure on-time completion while maintaining performance and quality goals

· Responsibility for IP research and design workaround strategy

· Mentor team members in developing new products

· Collaboration with Sourcing team to develop quote specs and perform supplier assessment

· Review engineering project activity between global engineering groups, providing needed direction and advice

· New product validation strategy

Support for strategic suppliers

· Monitor operational conditions during product development

· Promote best practices for manufacturing quality and efficiency

· Support manufacturing level corrective actions for product quality issues

· Support customer required factory audits and corrective actions

· Support customer requirements for documents and certifications

· Lead the implementation and maintenance of QA and QC systems

Product claim and defect handling

· Interface with customers

· Work with Engineering team to analyze claims and perform root cause analysis

· Champion Corrective Action process

Sales & marketing support

· Assist Sales team with technical support and presentations

· Provide technical marketing support to Product Management team

· Work with customer technical departments to meet their requirements

Lab operations

· Responsible for safety and management of R&D laboratories

· Suggesting and purchasing new equipment to improve capabilities and maintain competitive edge

Strategic input

· Provide guidance to executive management in assessing new opportunities

· Vet and suggest new product ideas in collaboration with Product Management and Innovation teams

· Actively improve work processes and digital tools in collaboration with Business Systems team

Requirements:

· Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Manufacturing Engineering or Equivalent Work Experience

· Hands-on knowledge of automotive technology

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Excellent managerial and supervisory skills

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

· Extensive technical knowledge of engineering and product development

· Ability to travel domestically and internationally on a quarterly or as-needed basis

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
