Director of Digital Engineering
The Director of Digital Engineering will be responsible for architecting and building best in class Digital products on multiple platforms. These products will define and lead Comerica's transformation into a fully enabled Digital Bank. As the leader of this high impact team, the Director of Digital Engineering will be in charge of setting the overall engineering direction for the digital platforms, partnering with senior stakeholders across our enterprise teams and lines of business to identify digital investments, setting up a brand-new digital team, guiding and coaching the team to deliver well-engineered digital solutions. This leader will be great strategic thinker, deep technical leader and a thoughtful people manager with relentless focus on operational and engineering excellence. They will constantly seek to understand ongoing digital developments and their implications, understand the end user experience and build what customers are looking for, communicate complex concepts in compelling and actionable ways and get involved in critical details when needed. They will also have experience dealing with ambiguity and should enjoy building and growing multiple engineering teams and operating one of the best digital teams in the financial sector. Position Responsibilities:Strategy
- As a member of the senior management team, partner with business unit and technology leaders to formulate and develop the company's business and Digital strategies, as well as product roadmaps.
- Proactively advise the senior management team on emerging technologies and digital trends that are most relevant to the company's goals and evolving needs.
- Ensure that Comerica's strategy is driven through to implementation by providing thought leadership and stepping in to lead execution.
- Ensure the continuous development and advancement of Technology skills and capabilities among teams across technology through on-going coaching, mentoring and fostering an environment of continuous learning.
- Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of Digital focused software engineers
- Effectively provide engineering and technical leadership: the ability to inspire your colleagues and teams to engineer and deliver quality software solutions.
- Recruit, motivate, mentor, and lead the top engineering talent.
- Manage strategic vendor relationships.
- Promote continuous improvement mindset in improving operations.
- Develop and implement financial plan to track usage of technology investments.
- Accountable for creating, securing approval for and management of Business Units capital and expense budgets, while exhibiting strict cost discipline.
- Accountable for understanding and driving meaningful implications of key financial indicators, and the use financial analysis to create and evaluate strategic options and opportunities.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Math, Science or Engineering or 15 years of relevant IT experience or equivalent operational responsibilities
- 10 Years of experience in a management or leadership position
- 10 Years of creating and executing strategic initiatives
- 5 years of leadership experience in Digital Engineering or Technology function
- 5 years of banking or financial services experience
