ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

The role is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction for the technical development and commercialization of RAI innovations including New Growth Initiatives, process improvements and innovative packaging developments.

The scope of responsibility includes orchestrating all aspects of the Innovations Engineering function, delivering innovative processes, and providing new or improved products or packaging to drive our position in the marketplace. This role advises an engineering team and other resources to develop new manufacturing processes and also provides technical mentorship to ensure sound engineering practices are utilized and end products meet all internal and external regulatory requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Direct Innovations Engineering function and manage resources to ensure priorities are aligned to support company vision and processes are optimized.
  • Develop expertise to be recognized as a technical authority within the company and a driver for innovations.
  • Lead high-priority, sophisticated projects that drive the strategic direction of the company.
  • Develop a creative technical team to refine Marketing and R&D concepts and utilize innovative engineering techniques to develop manufacturing solutions
  • Continually scout and assess new technology, marketplace trends and standard methodologies, and utilizes those tools to develop strategies to build a driven advantage
  • Lead development of one of a kind prototype equipment for R&D to facilitate new product development and lab scale manufacturing of development products for evaluation.
  • Formulate strategies which will deliver against the company strategic vision while driving and optimizing near term, often confidential projects.
  • Identify, and develop expertise in, new technologies that can be utilized internally for development of innovative processes to deliver new products or packaging to the marketplace.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Development, R&D Product Standards, Product Integrity, S&RA, and OpCo Operations
  • Possess an in-depth technical understanding of Manufacturing, Engineering and Supply chain at all OpCos
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to lead and drive the execution of multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to constantly evolving priorities
  • Broad knowledge of functional areas of OpCos
  • Analytical problem solving, decision making and negotiating skills
  • Understanding of engineering practices, standards, design principles and environmental requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical preferred) or related field and 7+ years of relevant work experience. Post Graduate Degree in Engineering and 5+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Previous experience in RAI Operations
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred but not required
