Your Role

As a Digital Experience Design Lead, you leverage your passion and expertise as a Visual and Spatial Designer to drive the design of our projects forward and enhance the human experience of the physical, and digital spaces and structures we create. Your role will be both hands-on – injecting progressive, strategic design-thinking into the work - as well as higher level oversight to guide the digital approach and execution as you collaborate and partner with Gensler practice areas including architecture, interiors, brand, and consulting to ensure digital design is thoughtfully considered and integrated within the overall holistic design vision. The Design Lead will present work to client stakeholders and represent our firm’s culture & principles. Additionally, the Design Lead will provide direction and leadership to junior staff working on their project teams, scope design phases of projects accurately and efficiently, and attend pitches and industry events as required.

What You Will Do

  • Advocate for the application of digital technology, and innovative design practice across a myriad of design opportunities

  • Collaborate with digital strategy and delivery teams to ensure designs meet the creative vision, within the project scope, feasibility, and delivery potential

  • Lead the Digital Design conversation as you partner with other graphic designers, animators, artists, copywriters, architecture, and interior teams to deliver the various phases of a project

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on all creative endeavors

  • Share design concepts and creative materials with clients through crafted stories/presentations/interactive demonstrations

  • Lead the production of design documentation for costing, coordination and fabrication of physical and digital activations

  • Participate in business development, RFP responses, account growth, and practice area advancement

  • Develop, motivate, and mentor junior and mid-level design professionals

  • Design trend research and presentations

Your Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of visual, spatial and experiential design experience

  • Demonstrated design success with integrated technology, interaction design, digital content in physical spaces

  • Ability to ideate and visualize concepts using three-dimensional, time-based forms of representation including diagrams, drawings, animated visualizations

  • Ability to mock-up and prototype physical designs and visual experiences using a range of tools including Augmented, Virtual Mixed Reality Applications, projection mapping etc

  • Hands-on experience of design for projects that interface between physical and digital, including interactive technology, sensor and tracking systems, physical computing, robotics

  • Working knowledge of parametric, generative and procedural 3D modelling techniques

  • Custom coding and machine-learning in spatial and experiential design a plus

  • Expertise across a range of software applications such as Cinema 4D, Rhino, Grasshopper, Unity, Unreal, Revit, N-Scape, Touch Designer, After Effects, Illustrator and Indesign.

  • Experience with the entire design lifecycle from concept to delivery

  • Experience managing and mentoring creative teams

  • Exceptional design sensibility with the ability to provide positive, clear, and critical design reviews to project teams

  • Knowledge of digital design, development, standards, and solutions

  • Strong presentation, communication, and relationship management skills

  • Must have the ability to maintain existing client relationships and serve as a trusted design leader
