Associated Projects: Cosmos is a team in the Pipeline Planning product group. Since we're at the beginning (chronologically) of the Pipeline workflow our apps are some of the most visible when launching to new groups and we have a lot of opportunities to influence how the whole workflow looks. Cosmos owns Velocity Experiments a tool for scientists, planners and statisticians to collaboratively plan the experiments that test and develop Bayer Crop Science's seed, trait and other products in its pipeline. Cosmos also owns Chemical Application Plan, a smaller app that captures instructions from planners for what chemicals to apply, how and when in planting workflows (for experiments or for seed production). Leading up to 2020 we have launched our app to business groups in the US, Canada, South Africa, India, and Brazil across Breeding, Biotech, Climate, Market Development and Production Research. So we're well on our way to our global launch with a lot of success and positive feedback so far. But still have some of the biggest user groups ahead of us. 2021-2022 we're focusing on other new groups including North America Cotton and Canola and the Field Solutions organization that does Crop Protection trials and comes from legacy Bayer. Chemical Application Plan is in the process of being completely rebuilt from a simple pilot state in v1 to a v2 that is intended to be fully integrated into the Pipeline platform. A large chunk of the work we have coming up will be API, UI and integration work to really make it a useful tool within the Velocity Planning platform and that will be critical for the Field Solutions launch since chemical applications are the main focus of their experiments. My key measure of success for this product will be seeing the plans we make in this app show up on the mobile devices of field team users to execute the sprays (meaning that we successfully captured the data from planners and transmitted it to downstream apps in Assessments.) Experiments is a much more established product. We've already achieved a great reputation for it among our users and can handle a lot of different experimental designs. We're even a little ahead of the curve there in terms of what the apps downstream of us are ready to support. We?ll be continuing work in Experiments throughout 2021 but the focus there will really be on polishing up user interactions based on feedback and adding in smaller features that round it out and get it to the point where users are excited to switch to it from their current app. We are also working on improvements to the performance of our UI and how our data is retrieved in order to prepare for the largest batch of experiments yet in next years anticipated North America Corn & Soy launches.

Team Dynamic/Culture
: The Cosmos team works closely with their Product Manager, Product Specialist and Product Designer. They collaborate with data teams and other product teams that integrate with their product application. The team primarily works independently, but pair and mob as needed for learning or solving complex problems. There are various levels of expertise on the team.

Why should you join us?

Learn & Grow:

Ongoing focus on growth through training (domain and technical) and knowledge sharing through communities of agile teams. Innovation days, hack-a-thons, networking events, and volunteer opportunities. Diverse technology stacks in a forward thinking, open source-centric environment.

Collaborate:

Work with other talented people solving a wide range of complex and unique challenges that have real world impact. Open workspace promotes collaboration and pairing in a fun, casual environment. We value your talent over a role or title. Strength of ideas valued over position on an org chart.
