Haskell is looking to add a Design Associate II - Structural to join our team in Frisco, TX!

The Design Associate II - Structural will be responsible for the structural design of basic elements for assigned projects. Work will be of increasing complexity to meet eligibility requirements to take the professional licensing exam. Design Associate II- Structural candidates must be highly proficient in Autodesk Revit, AND Bentley RAM (Elements, Structural System, Connection) OR CSI (ETABS & SAFE) structural engineering analysis and design software packages. This person must also have an elementary knowledge of lateral load analysis of building structures due to wind and seismic and knowledge of analysis and design of building structures with reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and structural steel elements.

Job Responsibilities:

The Design Associate II - Structural coordinates work with other disciplines and performs some interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions in drawings and specifications.

  • Participates in bid reviews when requested.
  • Construction Support:
    • Responds to all RFI’s and reviews submittals for compliance in a timely manner.
    • Participates in appropriate preconstruction/preparatory meetings.
    • Prepares field orders, addenda, and record drawings.
    • Reviews all structural related testing and inspection reports.
  • Performs site visits & prepares observation/follow-up phase reports documenting progress and deficiencies.
  • Communicates effectively with external/internal customers and staff in a professional manner conveying pertinent project information as required. Attends project meetings as requested.
  • Planning, Scheduling, and Profitability
    • Completes all assigned work on time.
  • Monitors projects for scope creep and reports changes to the Design Project Manager.
  • Professional Development
    • Desires to become registered as a PE then SE (Structural Engineer).
    • Attends training provided by senior staff to improve base knowledge.
    • Actively participates in local professional organization(s).
    • Improves their ability to use all structural design, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software.
  • Leadership
    • Participates in management and leadership training as requested by Group Lead and/or Chief Structural Engineer.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) from an accredited university in engineering or other degree related to the structural engineering profession.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in building structural engineering.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications, Etc.:

  • Highly proficient in Autodesk Revit, AND Bentley RAM (Elements, Structural System, Connection) OR CSI (ETABS & SAFE) structural engineering analysis and design software packages.
  • Have an elementary knowledge of lateral load analysis of building structures due to wind and seismic.
  • Have an elementary knowledge of analysis and design of building structures with reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and structural steel elements.
  • Basic presentation skills
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with a laptop, tablet (iPad or Microsoft equivalent), and mobile devices.
  • Ability to access project information remotely when working outside the office using VPN and/or Citrix.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to utilize Newforma Programs: Newforma Project Center, Newforma Cloud, Project Teams, Capture, Tasks, and Plans.
  • Ability to work within both AutoCAD and Revit or other 3D modeling software.
