POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Deli Clerk

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Deli Manager/ Deli Merchandiser

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
To provide customer service and food preparatiopnp osrut to the Deli.

NATURE AND SCOPE
Emphasis in this position is on providing prompotu, rcteous and accurate service to customers as well as proper preparation andla dyi sopf product. Primary learning challenge is in product knowledge, case sets,a tsrasye mbly and equipment use. Position requires ongoing moderate to heavy lifting, walk, isntganding, operation of Deli equipment, exposure to hot surfaces and oils, ls sokciilals, judgment/decision making, reading, writing, and math. Position functions awnodrk hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work directio np raorveided by the Deli Manager, Deli
Merchandiser or person in charge.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

1. Provides friendly and efficient customer service d beymonstrating sincerity, patience and respect in all customer interacti ons.

2. Throughout the store, greets customers in a ge naunidn efriendly manner. Learns customer names and uses them respectfully in gnrgese. ti

3. Assists customers throughout the s tboyre:

  • Escorting them to products they are looking for
  • Loading or unloading heavy items and assisting wpritohducts that are out of reach
  • Offering product and/or recipe suggestions andm remceondations
  • Responding to customers’ questions and requesat sti mine ly manner
  • Treating them as the most important people in ttohree s

6. Assists with food preparation
-Properly shaves and slices meats and cheeses
-Ensures proper handling, sanitation, freshnesds ,q aunality of all product
-Ensures proper assembly and recipes for all food
-Follows tare weight procedures

7. Provides customers with accurate, prompt and cousrt eservice

-Processes orders with proper quantities, quanlidty parice

-Promotes product through suggestive selling

8. Fills and rotates Deli cases and displays

-Ensures cases and displays are full, clean arnadc taivtte
-Maintains proper refrigeration and handles pro dpuroctperly to avoid damage
-Code dates product and separates outdated o rp urondfiut ct

9. Breaks down the department and performs cleanintige sd u

-Washes/changes salad bowls
-Breaks down, washes and sanitizes and sharpecnesrs s li
-Cleans cases, ovens and fryers
-Sweeps and mops floors
-Uses personal protective devices (cut resistaonvte gsl, chemical resistant gloves,chemical splash goggles, poly gloves)

Functional Requirements
Frequent: Physic a-l lifting/carrying 5 to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling0 05 to

-High school education (or concurrent enrollmen at nin educational institution) preferred but not required
