Job Description

Job Title: Daycare-Floating Teacher

Summary: The Floating Early Education Teacher (“Floating Teacher”) is a member of the classroom team who helps plan and initiate meaningful learning activities for children ages 0-5 years. Responsibilities include promoting the social, emotional, intellectual, language and physical development of each child in a safe and supervising educational environment. The Floating Teacher may assist the Lead and/or Assistant Teacher with developing classroom curriculum. Floating Teachers are assigned to a classroom as needed and the assignment changes according to the need. Individual must be willing to work between classrooms as needed. Major Responsibilities: * Assists in the constant supervision, health, safety, and well- being of all children in care, sanitization of classrooms on a daily basis, participation in fire drills and other emergency procedures, monthly first aid bag checks, playground inspections and clean up, completing all documentation, ensuring program is operating in accordance with the Mass EEC standards, regulations, guidelines and procedures. Works as a team player. * Shares in the responsibility for curriculum planning, assisting and implementing stimulating, age-appropriate activities that encourages children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development, to include; curriculum, lesson planning, observations, newsletters, recordings, transitions and all other forms of classroom planning, monitoring and documentation. * Assists with maintaining regular and positive relationships and communication with parents to include; meetings, conferences, e-mails, newsletters, daily sheets and all other forms of communication, parent activities and events. * Attends and participates actively in monthly meetings and trainings as required by EEC and is responsible in maintaining the required number of professional development credits annually, to include teacher support and feedback. * Assists with the responsibility for maintaining the play environments and classroom storage areas kept in organized and clutter-free conditions. * Assists, reviews and ensures child’s Health Care Plans are carried out for special diets, medications and medical conditions, dispensing medications with appropriate documentation and classroom postings * Assists the Lead Teacher in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by promptly reporting any existing and/or potential workplace hazards to the Lead Teacher or Director. * Is able to bend, stoop, and participate in all activities with children and lift from 25 to 50 pounds. * Flexibility in work schedule based on needs of the program. * Responsible for opening and breaking down classrooms with daily classroom cleaning and sanitizing. * Additional duties may be assigned without additional compensation or stipend

Job Requirements

  • Qualifications
  • Floating Early Education Teacher- Minimum of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. required, Child Growth and Development course required.
  • EEC Certificate in Infant/Toddler, Preschool required.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience required in related field. Immunizations including; Measles Mumps and Rubella to include TB Test.
  • Salary Range $ 13.00-$16.00 per hour
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • High School/Trade School degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
