Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Database Administrator Developer III reviews, evaluates, designs, develops, implements and maintains company database(s) and software applications. This position is also responsible for administering, developing and implementing policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company databases. Resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication and other distributed data issues. Oversees the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Provides technical support to team members. This position may require on-call responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School diploma required; Bachelor's Degree in a related area preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Specific Data Base certification/training preferred. EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years of experience in the database field or a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedure. For example: MySQL; PL/SQL; Performance Tuning and Optimization; Windows server, including Active Directory, High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for SQL Server. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Experience with an electronic health record (EHR) is preferred. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

* Configure and maintain database servers and processes*
* Monitor system's health and performance*
* Ensure high level of performance, availability, sustainability and security*
* Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time*
  • Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, data flow diagrams and documents the process.
  • Writes code for database access, modifications, and constructions including stored procedures and reports.
  • Implements data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance code.
* Designs and develops front end applications for database access. *
* Monitors and tracts database user activity, fragmentation, and growth to enhance database performance; makes recommendations to optimize use. *
* Collaborates with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage. *
* Establishes and maintains routine database back ups, archives, and recovery, for database accessibility. *
* Investigates and maintains in-house tools and third party data base tools. *
* Designs and manages the database user security plan and implementation. *
* Plans, develops, implements and evaluates disaster recovery methodology. *
* Develops and maintains the System's data dictionary. *
* Participates in the development of long term strategies to meet organizational needs. *
* Acts as a consultant on complex projects.*
  • Assists in the technical development of staff in their area to identify on-the-job training, formal training and work assignments. This includes providing feedback to the employee on their performance expectation as it relates to the technical aspect of their job.
  • Provides mentoring to the Database Analyst/Developer I and II.
  • Understands and practices AtlantiCare values.
  • Adheres to AtlantiCare Policies and Procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
* Responsible for system support 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days a year. *
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment on an occasional basis, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Works with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, copier, and telephone. This position requires repetitive motion, fingering, hearing, pushing, reaching, and reading, calculating, seeing, speaking, standing, and walking a majority of the time. Occasional driving also required. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
