As a Data Scientist at Advance Auto Parts, you will have an opportunity to disrupt a $150B auto parts industry to bring better and faster solutions to customers. You will be part of creating an elite data science function helping the company live its mission of “Advancing a World in Motion”. The role will be part of a merit-based organization with a culture of professional growth and development, and emphasis on the latest tools, platforms and technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Identify and lead data driven projects to improve the profitability and revenue for AAP. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to Marketing, eCommerce, Customer Experience, Merchandising, and Supply Chain.
  • Build and deploy natural language understanding pipelines to extract the ‘voice of the customer’ from surveys, call logs, and other customer touchpoints.
  • Create models to forecast purchasing patterns, demand trends, resource requirements, and other key metrics to guide business decisions and customer experiences.
  • Leverage the latest analytical tools and data mining techniques.
  • Create presentations leveraging data visualization tools that clearly and concisely communicate analytical findings and recommendations to business leaders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or another relevant field.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a data science or quantitative analytics role.
  • Expertise in Python and with Python data science and data analytics packages
  • Experience with multiple statistical and machine learning algorithms
  • Experience mining complex data sets from relational databases using SQL
  • Experience leading projects for one or more business units
  • Experience creating impactful presentations including visualizations and presenting results to business leaders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field
  • Natural language processing and natural language understanding expertise
  • Deep learning experience
  • Experience in a retail (brick and mortar or online) industry
  • Experience using Amazon Web Services
