THE POSITION:
The Data Scientist will be responsible for algorithm development, simulation, scientific methods, testing and implementation for R&D projects related to TOMONI and other digital applications. The target candidate will have at least 5-7 years’ experience in using structured and unstructured data to extract knowledge and insights, using a variety of commercial software platforms. The essential skills for this position blend Computer Science / IT and Math / Statistic with Domains and Business Knowledge. Prior knowledge or experience in Industrial Gas Turbines and Combined Cycle operations, data systems or related analytics is a plus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop computational algorithms, mathematical processes using Machine learning and other Artificial Intelligence techniques to support TOMONI Gas Turbine & plant optimization initiatives.
  • Lead the development of clean sheet design approach to new and existing ideas for emerging technology and data analytics schemes applied to Industrial Gas Turbines and combined cycle power plants for machine learning, analytics, neural networks, predictions and etc.
  • Develop protocol and program data interfaces across information platforms that are used for analytics and Business/ Process Intelligence as part of a digital ecosystem.
  • Provide interdepartmental support between sales, product line management, engineering, and field service as required to promote the development and implementation of TOMONI and other digital applications.
  • Provide engineering and technical leadership for project planning and implementation activities with internal and external teams as it relates to analytics, platform integration, digital ecosystem, AI and Machine Learning.
  • Support use-case definition for software application development with internal teams such as PLM, Service Engineering, RMC and software partners.
  • Support marketing efforts and assembly of technical papers, case studies and industry conference of digital applications as necessary to advance TOMONI and Intelligent Solutions initiatives.
  • Support customer meetings and deliver presentations on TOMONI and other digital applications as required.
  • Overnight travel (approximately 25% or more) by land and/or air.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Education and/or Experience: Minimum Master’s degree in Computer science /Programming, Data Science, Mathematics/statistics or Physics from four-year college or university or technical institution; and at least four (4) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with advanced mathematical concepts such as Supervised and unsupervised learning, Clustering, prediction, anomalies detection, reinforcement learning. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills: SharePoint, Windows Operating Systems, MATLAB, Python and equivalent, Java, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, working and theoretical knowledge of data science platforms, API, graphics; technical network diagrams, process flowcharts etc.
