We are currently a small, but rapidly growing, team that is looking to expand our engineering team to include backend engineers and data scientists. We are looking for a Data Science Manager to lead various data driven initiatives.
What you’ll do:

  • Participate, plan and lead discussions with stakeholders across finance, marketing, underwriting and sales to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business objectives
  • Grow the data science team and provide technical mentorship and guidance with projects
  • Collaborate with data engineering to create data assets needed for specific projects and contribute to improving overall data quality and reliability
  • Analyze data by mining company data to identify areas of optimization for the business and work with business stakeholders to help drive the business objectives
  • Be responsible for delivering machine learning models for predictive modelling purposes and solve on mathematical optimization problems

What you will bring:

  • Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or related fields
  • Experience building and leading a team of data scientists and a proven track record of delivering value to business
  • Proficiency in Python is required with 3+ years demonstrated experience of developing machine learning models and statistical analysis
  • Proficiency and advanced knowledge in SQL are required with demonstrable understanding of writing optimal queries
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and experience applying them to various problems
  • Desirable to have experience in NLP and text mining techniques
  • Experience with distributed data / computing tools such as PySpark or Dask is nice to have
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams
  • Experience working in Financial Services, Health Care or Insurance space is desirable
