Job Description: Join Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Data Analyst in our Harvey office.
The Data Analyst is accountable for the accuracy and integrity of clinical data needed to make informed decisions related to patient safety, quality, and risk management.This individual will conduct analysis to maintain our organization's dedication to providing high quality patient care.
Job SummaryThe position supports clinical performance through abstraction, review, and reporting of data from multiple sources, including, but not limited to: the clinical record financial systems, manually abstracted data, dashboards, etc. to support various initiatives related to quality improvement, accreditation, and regulatory requirements. Collaborates with clinical informaticists, data analysts, clinicians, administrators, and others to identify opportunities that support high-value, patient-centered care. Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in the implementation of quality and safety programs and initiatives. Supports the clinical excellence office in promoting and implementing quality, safety and risk reduction goals associated with the quality plan, dashboard and annual operation plan objectives. Actively utilizes skills in data analysis to proactively identify potential opportunities for improving the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care.
Job Functions
  • Provide abstraction and analysis of clinical medical record documentation and hospital billing codes to support clinical measures of care and to identify trends and opportunities for clinical improvement
  • Lead responsible work through to completion
  • Work with inter-disciplinary teams to continue large scale project
  • Ensure compliance with requirements from CMS (e.g. Meaningful Use, Core Measures, Inpatient Quality Reporting, and Outpatient Quality Reporting) and other payers and regulators with respect to reporting of clinical quality and other quality-related initiatives
  • Communicate performance and technical definitions of national measures of quality and patient safety to key stakeholders to support reporting requirements and quality improvement initiatives
  • Engage clinical teams in improvement initiatives through ongoing monitoring and feedback of performance
  • Performs other duties assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Degree in IT, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Business Decision Support/Statistical Analysis, Healthcare Administration, or a clinically associated health care field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years directly applicable experience, including experience in health care environment.
  • Experience with Core Measures/regulatory requirements and reporting
  • EHR experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Advanced level skills in data analysis and software programs
  • Ability to work in a time-oriented environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
