Job SummaryExperienced technology leader to join our Transformation Technology team to serve as a product owner and capability leader for our Data Aggregation Platform that supports a multi-year transformation project that will help accelerate MUFG’s Report & Data Automation efforts for BCBS Regulatory Compliance. Responsible for defining and building the cloud based Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) using AWS. Drive architectural thought and strategic leadership in managing the full set of capabilities of an Enterprise Data Lake. Highly analytical, motivated, and creative individual who has a passion for utilizing operational excellence and cutting-edge technologies.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Roadmap, design, plan, build, implement and support a new Enterprise Data Platform
  • Responsible for establishing Core Platform Capabilities (Data Gateway, Data Lake, Data Marts, Controls) and Core Operational Support Services and Data APIs
  • Responsible for Data Platform Engineering, Data Curation Framework, Data Lake Management, Data Ops (Prod Support), DMICF Controls Automation, Operational Dashboarding, DevSecOps, Change Management Core Services and Enablement, Cloud Service Deployment & Provisioning, Infrastructure Provisioning Service & Support, Production Support Triage / Assignment, BAU enhancement / feature development, Curation Framework/Accelerators, Metadata Management, Infrastructure as Code, Application Containerization
  • Continuously engage with senior leadership and stakeholders to ensure alignment and manage interdependencies
  • Establish processes to ensure timely delivery of high quality data with low latency; Ensure SLAs are being met; Develop and maintain operational & performance metrics.
  • Responsible for hiring and managing technical team with leadership onshore and engineering offshore directly supervising staff, including hiring and managing staff, conducting performance reviews, and planning/estimations, vendor management and contracts
  • Work with other capability teams to ensure the Data Lake roadmap adds up to an aligned strategy that addresses the forthcoming priorities of the business
  • Provide technical/functional expertise enterprise, exhibit a high level of business knowledge and understanding of the external marketplace and anticipates requirements.
  • Administer Data Lake Management and usage by matrixed teams focused on operations, including, data ingestion, data quality, data transformation, standardization, data models, analytical layer/s and visualizations. Create clear communication processes across all teams using the platform.
  • Partner across other related data lake initiatives to ensure efficient operating models, domain sharing, reuse, and clear/consistent engagement
  • Own the BAU and operational processes on the Enterprise Data Lake including an execution plan, issue capture and tracking ticketing system, as well as triage and lead issue resolutions
  • Define and execute processes around the health of the batch cycles
  • Create clear communication processes across all teams using the platform for data ingestion, data integration, and master & reference data services

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Data Science or related field) with 15+ years of experience or Master’s degree in computer science with 10+ years advanced experience in data engineering preferred
  • 10+ years financial services technology experience with a focus on data engineering with at least 5 years of direct experience in leading or building a data platform function with pipelines in AWS cloud & on prem. Significant experience and track record of delivery of major Data Management initiatives at large and complex organizations. A continuous improvement mind-set and dedication to uncovering better ways of working.
  • Strong knowledge of data aggregation tools and capabilities along with demonstrated experience integrating data from multiple sources.
  • Ability to communicate well with different audiences with clarity and conciseness demonstrated by well-developed written and verbal skills, and the ability to deliver content to large groups
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cultures and to connect and engage with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, coordination, documentation, analytical, problem solving, leadership, and time management skills.
  • Good problem solving, technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency
  • Assist teams in debugging and capture any constraints for removal as part of a continuous improvement and automation program.
Technical Qualifications:
  • AWS Certified Solution Architect with cloud data platform experience (Amazon S3, Hadoop, EMR, Spark)
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience as a data engineer or a data architect with 5 years in a team lead role
  • 4+ years of Hadoop-Based Analytics (HBase, Hive, MapReduce, etc.) Coding
  • 8+ years of experience with ETL platforms, ingestion patterns
  • 10+ years of expertise in relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, SqlServer
  • 3+ years of experience in Metadata Management and Data Governance
  • Working knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, Terraform
  • In-depth knowledge of database design and modeling, including relational, object, graph, and document databases (Oracle, MongoDB, MySQL, Amazon Aurora, Amazon Redshift, DynamoDB)
  • Experience with messaging and streaming (Kafka, Kinesis)
  • Familiarity with data governance and lineage systems
  • Experience & familiarity with ingestion tools/patterns, storage and security of data
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work well in a changing environment - SQL, Python
