Job Description

DEPARTMENT: UTILITY CUSTOMER SERVICES
STARTING SALARY: $15.87 PER HOUR

WHO WE ARE: Our goal is to provide high-quality, personal service. The Utility Customer Service department responds to questions and concerns regarding services provided for electric, water, sewer, solid waste collection and drainage.

THE LIFE OF A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE: Our Customer Service Representatives provide exceptional customers service to our Utilities Customers. Office hours for this department are Monday through Thursday 7:30am to 5:30pm and Friday 7:30am to 11:30am. Our current contact with customers is 100% on the phones with COVID-19 protocols in place.
DUTIES

  • Provide customers with information, answers to questions and resolve concerns using both verbal and written process on procedures, account balances, billing process, and account audits.
  • Operation of computers using multiple computer programs, email, calculators and multi-line phone systems.
  • Handle a high volume of customers daily.
  • Collect & process payments over the counter, by telephone, or received by mail.
  • Balance cashier drawer receipts at the end of the business day to ensure and verify accuracy of payments received.
  • Prepare and generate requests for new service, ending service transferring of services and Solid Waste requests.
  • Update accounts with changes, completing appropriate paperwork and forms.
  • Clerical duties such as filing, scanning documents, typing, faxing, calculating, use of Word and Excel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • General office/clerical experience with a high degree of public contact.
  • Prefer call center experience.
  • Able to provide a high level of professionalism & trustworthy service to our customers.
  • Accuracy & accountability in the receipt & accounting of money.
  • Knowledge & skills in Windows, Word & Excel and ability to learn and navigate new software quickly.
  • Proficient in the use of a 10-key calculator.
  • Customer service skills, excellent speaking & listening skills & proper public & telephone etiquette.
  • Able to make mathematical computations accurately & with reasonable speed.
  • Required to pass a computer skills test for knowledge of Word, Excel and Data Entry.
