Purpose of Position

This protective services case worker position will investigate child abuse and neglect referrals, assess the risk and safety of the child and take appropriate action, including referring parents and caregivers to safety related services, safety planning with families, preparing cases for transfer to CPS Permanency Planning, and testifying in court.

THIS JOB POSTING WILL BE USED FOR CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL ALL VACANCIES ARE FILLED.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or Family Studies from an accredited college/university and two (2) years of any combination of experience including working with communities on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Executive Order 2021-066 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination (including proof of a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster dose) or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.

The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated December 2, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to have received a primary series of vaccination by October 6, 2021, and a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster. THIS REQUIREMENT APPLIES TO THIS POSITION.

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Incumbent will be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments which may include transporting clients including children. Must have own mode of transportation.
