Job Description
-Overview-

ProDims is accepting resumes from qualified degreed Senior Cost Estimators for projects performed out of the Kirkland, Washington or Phoenix, Arizona offices based on a combination of experience estimating federal, military, transportation, transit, airport, tunnel, municipal, and educational projects. Senior Cost Estimator will be working under limited direction, using professional level technical expertise in preparing total construction cost estimates at different stages of project design, from preliminary through final design document development.

Qualified candidate will be responsible for the development of construction cost estimates through all design phases and all CSI divisions for A/E clients and meeting design fee budgets and client schedules without exception. Estimate formats typically are in uniformat II and are developed in MS Excel, Success by US Cost or MCACES M2 (MII). Experienced user of on-screen take off software. Editing estimates based on design team and owner review comments, attending and representing the cost estimate portions of the scope of work for the design team to the owner are essential as well.

The Senior Cost Estimator is also responsible for the scope of work of estimating services review and modifications, fee quotation/proposal development, fee negotiations, managing contracted budgets (overages are not allowed), developing marketing and proposal information by working with our marketing coordinator, attending and performing well in interviews with owners and A/E teams for potential work. Additional duties are time sheet development, reviewing contracts for conformity to fees before signature, scheduling work to meet client demands.

-Qualifications & Requirements-
  • BS in engineering, construction management, architecture, business, earth/physical sciences, mathematics.

  • 5-20 years’ experience primarily developing A/E design side construction cost estimates at all design and budget setting phases across all CSI divisions using Uniformat II WBS for state, county, school districts, agencies, cities/municipalities, Department of Defense, Department of Home Land Security, USACE, Other Federal Departments. Please note construction site project managers or single trade estimators (i.e. only experienced in the HVAC industry) are not the focus of this position.

  • Certifications: CCP, CEP, ASPE, Nationally Accredited certification is a requirement or to obtain within 24 months.

  • Experience estimating for the USACE, NAVFAC, US Coast Guard division of Homeland Security, GSA, for all project types from in-water, heavy/civil to buildings. Including New construction and modernization of facilities at all design phases. Familiarity with Development of Block 9 and Block 12 (BESS) of the DD1391 funding document is a plus.

  • Must be able to estimate all CSI Divisions at all design phases from parametric unit costs at predesign and early design (schematics) to full detailed design estimates at design development through contract documents.

  • Proven profit/loss responsibility, Manage Line of Business, quote work, manage scope of work, and scope of services. Please note there is no over budget on professional services fees in this position at ProDims.

  • Writing skills are a must to write technical documents (basis of cost estimate narratives), short and to the point emails and marketing proposals.

  • Proficient with estimating software including MCACES II, SUCCESS and Excel.

  • Ability to read, understand and interpret drawings, photos, sketches, narratives, contract specifications, and other technical documents used in design phases from conceptual through bid documents and change order documents to describe the scope of work of the construction to achieve the project function.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with diverse personalities including project managers, customers, clients, subcontractors and staff.

  • Displays strong written and oral communications skills and employs effective listening skills.

  • Self-starters, highly motivated and goal orientated as achieved by implementation systems, quick, sharp, confident, assertive and ethical.

  • Excellent attention to detail with emphasis placed on quality. Very organized with a systematic approach to tasks to achieve accuracy and efficiency.

  • A Full understanding of the responsibilities of the position include a solid technical performance of cost estimates.

  • Writing skills for writing Basis of Cost estimates and emails.

  • Approval of Invoices working with accounting team in a timely manner.

  • Ability to pass background check(s) to obtain “Base Access” identification credentials per on-going requirements as determined by DoD officials at each military installation ProDims is required to access as part of our contractual agreements. No exceptions.

  • Proof of US Citizenship must be provided before any offer is confirmed.

  • State of Washington or State of Arizona motor vehicle driver license is required as well as access to own vehicle to attend meetings.
