This position is located in historic downtown Sioux Falls in Southeastern South Dakota.


GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office invites applications for Correctional Officers to maintain safety and security within the county's correctional facility. Our Jail is located in historic, downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Take a virtual tour to check it out!

RETENTION BONUS: Newly hired Correctional Officers are eligible to receive $1,000 at 9 months, 18 months, 27 months, and 36 months of service with good performance!!

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS NOT REQURIED!

New officers will learn effective communication and de-escalation skills to manage inmate behavior for more than 500 inmates within the County's Jail. Our training program is lead by experienced trainers who will teach you first aid, report writing, crisis intervention, defensive tactics, investigation, problem solving, and other critical skills used by corrections and law enforcement professionals.

The hiring range is $20.46/hr - $22.02/hr with a full earning potential up to $29.62/hr.
