About Jesse Tree

Jesse Tree prevents eviction and homelessness for households in Idaho’s Treasure Valley by providing financial assistance, support, and connections to needed community services and resources during a household’s most critical time of need.

In line with current community and client need for our services, Jesse Tree is working to expand the services and resources the organization can provide. This position will allow us to assist an additional 20-30 households per month with rental assistance.

Project Duties

  • Meet with 25 households per month at risk of eviction, engaging with Treasure Valley tenant households and their landlords, who have the most urgent needs and are most likely to be evicted and become homeless based on specific risk factors. Case Managers will take on 8 new client households per week and are expected to issue at least 4 rent checks per week.
  • Conduct outreach, advocate for, and provide information and assistance to both tenants and their landlord/property manager to promote housing retention, prevent unit turnover/vacancies and homelessness.
  • Serve as a point of contact for landlords/property managers and provide mediation and negotiation to assist tenants in lease compliance, remaining successfully housed, setting up payment plans, or arrangements to move into new housing, if necessary.
  • Connect tenants to community resources and benefits that will help them stabilize their housing situation, including to new housing opportunities if tenants are not able to sustainably stay in their homes.
  • Support tenants through eviction court and coordinate care with pro bono attorneys.
  • Educate tenants on resources related to increasing their income, cutting expenses, and creating a household budget.

Successful applicants will have the following traits

  • An entrepreneurial, collaborative, go-getter approach to getting our message out into the community, developing new and unique ways to improve operations of the organization and to create new opportunities
  • A strong sense of ethics and a sincere passion for preventing and ending eviction and homelessness in our community
  • A strong team player willing to communicate, resolve problems, and work together to prevent homelessness
  • A positive attitude that inspires others to achieve above and beyond
  • The ability to prioritize work activities and track details, data, information and activities
  • A willingness to continuously improve your work and the practices of our organization
  • A commitment to empowering others to be the best version of themselves
  • Fluency with Google Suites
