Job Description

National Grid is hiring a Construction Restoration Manager for our MA Gas Operations Programs and Restoration department in Waltham, MA.

Job Purpose

To be responsible for the daily management and organization of the Construction portion of the Restoration department to accomplish job tasks effectively and efficiently in line with municipal, department, and National Grid restoration/paving requirements. The Construction Restoration Manager is accountable for the department’s performance (safety, KPIs, cost reductions, and efficiencies). This requires deploying an integrated and collaborative approach with various stakeholders.


Key Accountabilities

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Demonstrate sound implementation of restoration policies and procedures that maximize customer satisfaction and fulfill statutory requirements while meeting or exceeding company expectations
  • Monitor safety, performance, productivity, and workload as needed to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness for internal and external resources
  • Maintain industry involvement to keep abreast of changing paving technologies and best practices and develop continuous improvement initiatives in support of the Company's strategic objectives
  • Foster cooperative working relationships with contractors. Participate in the development and implementation of the various systems and technologies that support the restoration process
  • Manage the utilization of resources (personnel, vehicles, and equipment) to ensure a timely response to workload, monitor safety, performance, productivity, and workload and re-balance as needed to maximize efficiencies and cost effectiveness
  • Ensure timely completion of restoration activity in accordance with customer and municipality expectations
  • Ensure that all paving requirements are performed in accordance with Company standards and procedures, OSHA, DOT and municipal specifications & regulations
  • Collaborate with Gas Business Leadership (Engineering, Gas Field Operations, etc.)


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years of paving experience with extensive knowledge of the restoration process (roadway paving, grind and inlay, sidewalk, etc.) required
  • 7+ years of proven managerial experience required
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize and regularly work through stressful situations required
  • Previous experience managing customer expectations and complaint resolution required
  • Proven experience effectively leading the adoption of Federal, State, Company Codes and Regulations
  • Proven ability to work in a co-operative manner with various stakeholders with multiple objectives in a fast-paced manner with high volume of transactions required
  • Proven experience generating and tracking departmental financials required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point required
  • Valid driver’s license required
