The Manager of Compensation is responsible for managing the compensation function for all Sunrise Senior Living communities, Regional and Community Support Office positions in the United States and Canada. The Manager of Compensation is responsible for the delivery of compensation programs that align with Sunrise Senior Living core values and team member credo, to include managing executive compensation, sales compensation, base pay programs, bonus payments, merit administration, job classification, job analysis and the internal equity valuing process by providing data-driven recommendations to aid departments in making informed decisions regarding team member pay. The Manager of Compensation works to ensure that standard and consistent practices foster a compensation culture that complies with all local, state, federal and applicable statutes and regulations as well as Sunrise policies and procedures.

The unique responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the essential functions listed below:
  • Develops and manages compensation policies, procedures, and programs, including job analysis, job evaluation, market pricing, and incentive programs.
  • Manage the administration of annual performance management processes to include communications, merit increase processing, bonus calculation and payments.
  • Ensure accurate administration, payment and communication of various specialized compensation programs affecting Sales Compensation, Executive Director Long-Term Service Recognition Program and other Executive Compensation plans.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives.
  • Serve as in-house consultant to HR and management regarding questions related to FLSA, wage and salary
  • Designs creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees.
  • Provides advice to Department Heads regarding pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
  • Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
  • Oversee the participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure compensation objectives are achieved.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed throughout this job description are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
? Thorough experience in the design, implementation, management and communication of compensation programs
? Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources or related field and six to eight years of progressively responsible experience in compensation policies and practices.?
SHRM or HRCI Certified Professional and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) credentials preferred.?
Strong leadership and team management skills.?
Commitment to consistent outstanding customer service and an ability to interact with all levels in the organization?
Excellent time management skills with the ability to plan and set priorities.?
Must be self-motivated and work as part of a team?
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.?
Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements as they apply to base compensation and incentive compensation programs, company policies, and operations.?
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.?
Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including Excel.
