Summary

Do you have a passion for outreach and community engagement plus producing content (digital, print, and broadcast)? If you said yes, then AARP in Houston has an internship for you. Our 4-person team is looking for a student with strong multi-media background and a track record of working in or with outreach and advocacy groups in Houston. Our intern will work at least 20 hours per week virtually until it is safe to work out of our River Oaks office. This is a paid position with a competitive hourly rate.

We want someone who can work with teams and on their own, all the while meeting deadlines and creating dynamically engaging content for digital, print, and digital mediums. This individual will also gain experience in planning and executing engaging events for Houston's 50+ community and their families. Bilingual candidates preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

  • Write articles for our blogs, and video projects
  • Produce, shoot, and edit video profiles to be distributed via AARP Texas' social media outlets
  • Research story ideas to promote AARP's initiatives
  • Help plan and execute outreach and advocacy events
  • Participate in other collaborative staff projects

With this intensive internship, you will come away with direct experience in creating and executing digital/broadcast content and a variety of other skills transferable to careers in digital media, outreach, and promotion.

AARP's membership is aged 50+, but we work on issues that matter to all Texans. Join us in the fight to improve the lives of Texans age 50+ and their families.

Requirements

Prospective intern must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post doctorate students.

AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
