Title: College Store Merchandising and e-Commerce Specialist

Position Purpose:

The College Store Merchandising and e-commerce Specialist position is responsible for merchandising and buying for the sales floor, restocking, and customer service. All aspects of order fulfillment and customer interaction through the College Store's Shopify e-commerce platform. This position will also be required to cashier, backup the stockroom as needed.

Job Duties:

College Store Online Catalog

  • Have a working knowledge all aspects of the College Store's online catalog through the Shopify e-commerce web platform.
  • This includes order fulfillment, customer communication, product management, online merchandising, returns/exchanges, and inventory control.

Merchandising and Buying

  • Meet with vendors to make buying decisons that impact the store. Managing to a budget for a given department.
  • Ensure the sales floor is neat, clean and organized.
  • Maintains standards of merchandise presentation and customer service.

Stockroom

  • Perform as seasonal backup for the Stockroom Specialist. Included in this is data entry, quality control, inventory control, and database entry and maintenance.

General Store Operations

  • Maintains familiarity with registers, cash handling, daily deposit procedures, and other general operating procedures.
  • Serve as primary backup to the Office Coordinator in purchase order creation and daily journal entry procedures.
  • Assist in Alibris account for the sale of textbooks and trade books.
  • Manages student employee and part time staff projects.
  • Assist with order fulfillment of pre-order textbooks.
  • Maintain buying, inventory levels for departments as designated in the College Store.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • The successful candidate will have a combination of education and experience equivalent to college courses in business administration or a closely related field.

Experience

  • 2+ years of proven work experience in cashiering; retail
and/or food service experience preferred.
  • 2+ years merchandise buying experience.
  • Software & Design Experience: Proven work experience with e-
Commerce, social media, Microsoft Office including data input and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of Shopify e- commerce platform a plus.
  • Ability to learn new software quickly a plus.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong business aptitude is required.
  • Basic Office & Organizational Skills: able to organize and manage electronic and hard copy files and folders with MS Office Suite; excel, word and outlook, and Dropbox based storage applications.
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills.
  • Customer Service: ability to provide service that consistently meets or exceeds the needs of web customers, colleagues, and the college community .
  • Time Management: ability to independently set and successfully manage work flow, including fulfilling fast turnaround times & meeting deadlines.
  • Attention to Detail : ability to produce accurate work, edit advertising, marketing and web information.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships. Must be flexible, collaborative and have a positive attitude.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; ability to synthesize complex or diverse information.

  • Proficiency in basic data management systems and basic computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
