The Emory+Children’s Pediatric Institute is conducting a search for a clinical psychologist with specialization in assessment and treatment of feeding disorders, food allergy, and/or avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) in Atlanta, Georgia. The position will support our growing clinical service line and research labs at the Center for Advanced Pediatrics and the Marcus Autism Center. This expansion is part of a strategic initiative to advance the assessment and treatment of pediatric feeding disorders, food allergy, and ARFID in Atlanta and surrounding communities. Qualifications must meet faculty appointment requirements at the Emory University Department of Pediatrics at the Assistant Professor level; Associate Professor level applicants will be considered depending on qualifications.
The position will be part of a unique collaboration of two nationally prominent clinical and research groups here at Emory and Children’s: Emory + Children’s Food Allergy Center and Children’s Multidisciplinary Feeding Program. The psychologist will join a multidisciplinary treatment team that includes professionals from pediatric gastroenterology, allergy, nutrition, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and social work. Assessment and intervention focuses on evidenced-based treatments with a heavy emphasis on behavioral intervention. The position will involve a combination of clinical and research activities. Clinical work may include conducting multidisciplinary evaluations, providing direct services through our outpatient clinic, and/or case management for patients in our day treatment program. Successful candidates will also have a track record of independent and/or collaborative research – with potential to contribute to our research lab that has ongoing clinical trials and epidemiological studies. Candidates should possess a PhD and completion of an APA- or CPA-accredited doctoral program in clinical psychology, completion of an APA-accredited internship, and completion of postdoctoral fellowship. Ideal candidates will have clinical training/background in child/pediatric psychology and/or applied behavior analysis with preference given to candidates with experience in the assessment and treatment of pediatric feeding disorders/ARFID. In-house training and re-specialization possible for competitive applications. The position requires that candidates be license-eligible to practice as a psychologist in the state of Georgia.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES A Psychologist supports and enhances the mission of the program by providing high quality patient care in an effective and efficient manner. I. Clinical Service:
  • Provides patient care which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children's policies and procedures.
  • Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
  • Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
  • Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
  • Completes necessary documentation and ensures communication in a timely manner to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
  • Provides supervision as appropriate to allied health providers and/or nursing support staff in the clinical area
  • A commitment to a model of care centered around integrated medical services, with seamless collaborations with gastroenterology, food allergy, nutrition, speech-language pathology, developmental pediatrics, child neurology, psychiatry and genetics, among other subspecialties at Children’s and Emory Pediatrics; and inter-professional and collaborative teams of service delivery.
II. Research:
  • Actively support research ongoing activities underway in the Feeding Program, Food Allergy Center, Division of Autism and Related Disorders, and/or Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition
  • Interfaces and build collaborative relationships with intervention scientists who are collaborators or potential collaborators in research focusing on the cause, consequence, and/or remediation of chronic feeding concerns, food allergy and associated conditions
  • Maintains an active portfolio of applications for external funding as principle or co-investigator focusing on the cause, consequence, and/or remediation of chronic feeding concerns, food allergy and associated conditions
  • Leads preparation of scientific articles for publication and conference presentations
III. Teaching:
  • Provides direct supervision for trainees, ensuring adequate opportunities for training through teaching, patient contact, case review and research.
IV. Administrative:
  • Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
  • Participates in activities that enhance professional development.
  • Completes and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the assigned area.
  • Participate in the development of goals for the department including research, quality and customer service initiatives.

  • Board certified and licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member.
