TGH is the area’s only level I trauma center and one of just two ABA-verified adult & pediatric burn centers in Florida. With five medical helicopters*, we transport critically injured or ill patients from 23 surrounding counties to receive the advanced care they need. Department Profile

Tampa General Hospital’s Cardiovascular Center has six cardiac catheterization laboratories, including two EP labs and seven interventional radiology suites in over 77,000 square-feet of dedicated space, which also has two neuro Interventional suites. TGH has eight operating rooms outfitted for cardiac surgery. In addition, TGH’s Heart Valve Center includes a hybrid operating room and 160 slice CT scanner. Designed with patient comfort in mind, the 47 pre- and post-procedure rooms have private bathrooms and are equipped with internet, televisions and telephones. The Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC) awarded its Heart Failure Certification to Tampa General Hospital for planning and organizing the delivery of care in a systematic manner that supports adherence to evidence-based guidelines and quality initiatives. TGH has also received Chest Pain (with Primary PCI) Accreditation from SCPC. TGH was most recently awarded full Atrial Fibrillation with Electrophysiology Services Accreditation status from SCPC for its expertise and commitment to quality patient care.
