**$8,320 Unit Base Differential** Experienced Clinical Nurse Position on G19W Leukemia Unit (7 pm - 7 am) includes some weekends and holidays

PLUS - nurses will earn up to $8,320 in annual unit-based differentials for all inpatient units. In addition, Evening/Night nurses will be eligible for shift differential pay.

The G19W Leukemia Unit is one of three units dedicated to the care of the acute/chronic and remission Leukemia patient. The Leukemia patient is on the receiving end of some novel therapies for the treatment of their respective cancer such as Autologous Chimeric Antigen Receptor-T Cell (CAR-T cells) which has shown great clinical promise and standard/ investigational or consolidation chemotherapies. Nurses are responsible for organizing the care of the patient including the administration of chemotherapy, blood products, electrolyte replacements, monitoring the patient on telemetry and any cardiac drips. The primary nurse is also responsible for working with the primary team towards a successful discharge inclusive of patient and family teaching.

**The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at MD Anderson provides patient focused care through a multidisciplinary team approach. Quality and patient outcomes are at the heart of our practice. The ICU team participates in Evidence Based Practice, unit and hospital -based committees, and local and national conferences.

Ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited school of professional nurse, TX RN license with a minimum of 12 months recent RN experience in an inpatient setting on a Medical/Surgical unit. Prior Oncology / Hematology experience a plus. BLS and/or ACLS certification required.

Shift: 7 pm -7 am and 26 out of 52 weekends per year

Hourly breakdown of salary range:

Minimum $31.73 - Midpoint $43.27 - Maximum $54.81

KEY NURSING FUNCTIONS
  • Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area.
  • Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
  • Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.
  • Participates in data collection for current studies.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies.
  • Documents care according to established standards.
  • Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems.
  • Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.
  • Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights.
  • Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

Education:

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Preferred: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.

Preferred Experience: 12 months of recent acute care RN experience.

Licensure/Certification:

Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
