UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC) is a network of community-based clinics throughout the Puget Sound region. UWNC - Factoria Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time (100%, 40 hours per week), day shift, CLINICAL LAB TECHNICIAN II. The Clinical Lab Technician II works in a clinical laboratory with a limited test menu and high service demands; performing waived and limited non-waived testing, microscopic evaluations, and adult and pediatric phlebotomy.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Performs routine and stat laboratory tests utilizing automated or semi-automated equipment, kit assays, and microscopic evaluations. This includes the ability to understand, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot (may involve working with manufacturer’s customer service personnel) the applicable equipment and testing methods.
  • Performs adult and pediatric phlebotomy by capillary and venous collection.
  • Performs the duties of a Clinical Laboratory Technician I, including all waived and non-waived testing in addition to microscopic evaluations.
  • Performs quality control analyses on all tests assigned and determines whether all parameters are within established ranges.
  • Evaluates test results and understands critical value limits for all tests assigned and reports immediately to appropriate medical staff.
  • Performs routine radiographic exams as directed by a clinic provider, limited to Level 1 and Level 2 exams as listed in the UWNC x-ray test menu.
  • Monitors laboratory inventory and places orders for supplies as delegated by the CLT Lead.

  • REQUIREMENTS
  • High School/GED
  • Minimum one-year relevant experience or training in a clinical laboratory or medical setting

  • LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
    Active Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist with the Washington State Department of Health or able to be certified as a Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist within 90 days of hire.

    DESIRED
  • An Associate Degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program including courses in chemistry and biology;
    OR
  • Equivalent education such as a degree in biology, environmental science, microbiology or other related science or medical field AND one year of laboratory experience in a clinical lab such as research, biology, microbiology, medical, or other related field;
    OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) AND two years of experience in a clinical laboratory performing testing, preferably in an ambulatory clinic environment conducting lab testing similar to the UWNC environment;
    OR
  • Equivalent education/experience.
  • Demonstrated computer experience, preferably in a Windows-based environment.
