Job Description

CFKC is currently looking for a full-time Clinical Training/ Education Manager. This position will be based out of our Home Office located in Downtown Orlando, FL; however travel is required of this position to all eight units throughout Central Florida.

This position is responsible for the oversight and participation in general orientation of all new employees and continuing education for our clinical staff. This position collaborates with different departments to ensure that CFKC employees receive adequate training for their position. This position requires a current Florida RN license. The ideal candidate would have a passion for education, excellent presentation skills and communication skills, and a positive attitude.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Responsible for training of new employees, including classroom lectures, and making sure that the activities are congruent with the Central Florida Kidney Center's mission, goals, values, priorities, and resources.
  • Responsible for oversight of the patient in-center self-care program, including contracting with the patient for procedural safety and full understanding that the nursing staff remains in charge of final decisions for the dialysis treatment.
  • Makes recommendations to the appropriate nurse manager or other supervisor for follow up with new employee monitoring of job performance.
  • Acting as both a formal and informal consultant, assisting with the integration of new learning into nursing practice and serving as a resource by assisting nurses in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options.
  • Responsible for annual CPR review offerings for clinical staff, OSHA safety and quarterly fire drills and reviews outcomes for necessary changes and educates employees accordingly.
  • Responsible for annual Code Red Drill for staff and patients at all facilities, and providing a written audit summary with corrective actions taken to the Director of Clinical Services and the C.E.O.
  • Participates in QAPI process for the purpose of recognizing and initiating further education or training that may be indicated in the plan to improve patient care or patient outcomes.
  • Provides an appropriate climate for learning and facilitates the learning process by developing, planning, and presenting educational activities and directly or indirectly fostering the development of competence in nursing staff, identifying changes that should be made in nursing practice using an evidence-based approach and facilitating the initiation of, adoption of, and adaptation to change.
  • Models professional and ethical behavior and maintains affiliations with professional organizations as well as participating in professional community service opportunities.
  • Collaborates with others in the practice of nursing professional development at the institutional, local, regional, and state levels.
  • Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning, delivering, and managing nursing professional development activities
  • Demonstrates skills in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care delivery. Demonstrates the ability to teach other licensed and non-licensed staff these skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in adult learning principles and the ability to teach adults.
  • Tracks certification deadlines for new patient care technicians and assists the PCT with study information and certification locations.
  • Reviews all units' unusual occurrence (UO) reports for risk management, proper completion, and employee training needs. Provides an annual summary of all unit reports in the first quarter of the New Year to the Facility Nurse Managers and the Executive team.
  • Responsible for lead role in patient and employee safety. Works closely with Human Resources to plan teaching opportunities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position directly supervises the Clinical Training Coordinator role.

TRAVEL: 25%+

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Dialysis. Experience with the dialysis process is required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) with additional experience or formal education in nursing education and teaching adults.
  • Master's Degree in Education, preferred.
  • Must be dependable, reliable, flexible, and function well under stress.
  • Must be capable of handling a code situation and teaching staff how to manage a code situation.
  • Must require minimal supervision and excel at working independently.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current Florida R.N. license.
  • Completion of BLS, and/or ACLS, and/or PALS
  • Trained in teaching BLS or ACLS, and PALS
  • Certified in Clinical Nephrology Nursing (Required or able to obtain within 1 year of employment)
