Job Description

Summary
The Regis College Dental Center seeks an adjunct (part-time) supervising dentist to collaboratively supervise dental hygiene students in a clinical setting for approximately 8 hours per week.


Essential Functions
  • Interact with students in a teaching environment by providing instruction to and evaluation of dental hygiene students in the clinical setting.
  • Prescribe and diagnose/interpret radiographs.
  • Communicate with physicians of patients of record.
  • Approve sealants and whitening tray fabrication.
  • Review intra & extraoral exams done by students.
  • Review dental chartings with the student on Dentrix.
  • Identify and provide referrals for patients.
  • Prescribe/dispense medications as needed.
  • Be available to answer questions regarding health history, pathology, patient care, and clinical treatment.
  • Manage medical emergencies.
  • Be present, if needed, for ADEX Board Examinations and CODA site visits.
  • Assist in the coordination of all dental clinic activities.
  • Provide state-mandated supervision for applicable dental procedures.
  • Administer local anesthesia, if necessary.
  • Participate in faculty/staff/calibration meetings.
  • Comply with CODA accreditation standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Health Sciences or Program Director.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree.
  • Massachusetts Dental license in good standing with BORID.
  • Current Health Care Provider, CPR training.
  • Professional liability insurance.

  • Ability to exhibit professional behavior with students, faculty, staff, patients, and co-workers and maintain student and patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to collaborate with other faculty members and be adaptable and open to new ideas.
  • Clinical teaching experience in a dental hygiene/dental program preferred.
  • Experience as a supervising dentist in a teaching environment preferred.
  • Strong technology skills, including advanced knowledge of MS Office, Dexis and Dentrix (TalEval and Moodle preferred).


Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Normal dental office environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.
  • May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
