Job Description

All staff members at Yakima Valley Memorial must be in compliance with the Vaccination Policy, which includes the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine, by their first day of employment.


ROLE SUMMARY


Responsible for scheduling and pre-registering patients for exams and procedures. Communicates all relevant information and instructions to patient. Assists with the rooming process related to patient check-in. Works collaboratively with providers and clinic staff to support patient care, assuming responsibility for clinical and administrative tools to create operational efficiencies. Coordinates and schedules services for patients and providers. Maintains providers’ daily schedules and communicates changes to appropriate staff members and patients. Coordinates pre-authorizations, requests, and referrals as needed. Updates patient insurance information. Manages filing and release/receipt of medical records. Acts as primary contact for patients. Answers telephones and schedules patient appointments with providers. Reminds patients of upcoming appointments. Schedules new or follow up appointments. Explains logistics related to appointments (e.g., appointment time, parking). Keeps patients informed of delays. Routes phone calls per urgent/emergent guidelines. Performs telephone and in-person screening. Informs patients of test results per protocol. Prepares patients for exams, treatments, procedures by obtaining vital signs which may include: temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight measurements. Provides general patient instructions relevant to the encounter (i.e. instructs patient in urine specimen collection). Cleans & organizes exam rooms, and disposes of bio-hazardous materials using standard precautions.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS


Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

Experience: Customer service experience required. Medical office administration experience or equivalent training program preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Knowledge of insurance verification preferred.

Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Ability to obtain Washington State (DOH) MA-R certification preferred.
