Job Description

General Characteristics

Drives a small, medium or heavy truck to make regular deliveries and pick-ups. Vehicle may include a trailer and requires a Class A driver’s license.

Fills shipping or transfer orders from stored merchandise in accordance with pull slip or other instructions. Assists in receiving, checking and storing items. Must use forklift to move materials.

Interaction with others required involving basic courtesy and straightforward exchange of information. Maintain a positive attitude and professional appearance. Arrive ready to work by time agreed with or instructed by supervisor. Attend company and location meetings.

  • Maintain certifications for various machines, equipment, CDL license, etc.
  • Maintain open communication with sales personnel and yard staff
  • Check accuracy of deliveries before leaving the location
  • Check accuracy of orders upon delivery to customer
  • Provides excellent customer service in the field and to walk-in customers
  • Operate company vehicles in a safe manner
  • Verify assigned truck is in proper condition prior to making deliveries
  • When back from deliveries helps pull orders for the following day
  • When necessary, make pre-phone call arrangements with jobsite contact person
  • Always make delivery commitments
  • Maintains open communication with warehouse manager
  • Prepare trucks for deliveries with correctly pulled material
  • Checks accuracy of incoming and outgoing orders
  • Provides excellent customer service to walk-in customers
  • Ensures warehouse and yard are kept neat and clean and takes pride in our appearance
  • Help maintain property which may include mowing and snow removal
  • Help maintain company vehicle appearance by washing and cleaning inside
  • Work individually or as a team to perform assigned projects
  • Must be L/B Water Forklift certified
  • Knowledge of materials, part numbers and applications
  • Knowledge of pipe Outside diameters
  • Be liaison between customer in field and sales staff
  • Treat co-workers with respect
  • Help plan pre-determined route for most effective utilization within schedule constraints
  • Ensures delivery or pick-up documentation is complete
  • Records information such as distance traveled & fuel consumption
  • Advises supervisor of need for repairs & maintenance
  • Whatever it takes to get the job done, Team Player
