Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

As a Claims Representative II, you will be responsible for investigating and assessing damage and loss claims.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily claim review and accurate entry of required claim data into claims data base system for both third and first party claims same

day as receipt of assignment.

  • Within 24-hours of receipt of bodily injury claim assignment, contact and interview claimant and other involved persons to obtain

missing information not contained within claim. For non-bodily injury claims, communicate with claimant and any other involved

persons within appropriate time frame to obtain any missing information not contained in claim.

  • Perform appropriate investigation based on claim type and damages; obtain applicable investigative documentation and

information, to include available surveillance coverage, direct from property risk management and other departments as well as

accessing various company-wide hotel systems such as HOTSOS, Opera, Etc., interview witnesses and other involved parties, review

evidence, obtain additional investigative information such as photographs (if needed), policy reports, etc. as necessary to allow for a

  • Evaluate investigation results and make determination as to extent of company's liability, if any. Review medical treatment

records / bills and complete required Medical Evaluation form.

  • Obtain and assess appropriate documentation to substantiate reported loss including but not limited to: verification of MMSEA

status, medical treatment records and bills, verification of wage loss, property loss/damage receipts & estimates, etc., for non-

litigated claims.

  • Maintain appropriate and sufficient reserves in recognition of potential financial exposure of claim, post accurate and timely claim

payments in database system until claim is resolved; provide clear and timely verbal and/or composed written communication with

all relevant parties.

  • Negotiate and resolve claims in a fair and equitable manner, within designated authority level, in compliance with company's

settlement practices, policies and procedures and conferring with management for any recommended settlement outside authority

level for non-litigated claims. Subrogate against third parties to pursue risk transfer and/or monies owed to property/company.

  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of related experience

PREFERRED:

  • Three (3) or more years of property and casualty claims handling experience
  • Experience in Gaming / Hospitality Claims
  • Experience working in a similar resort setting

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledgeable of principles of property and casualty insurance and fundamentals of tort law
  • Knowledgeable of basic medical terminology
  • Strong knowledge and ability in active listening, deductive/inductive reasoning, critical thinking, problem solving, and diplomacy
  • Strong negotiation skills to reconcile differences and bring resolve to claims in an expeditious and cost effective manner
  • Able to read and write proficiently to evaluate reports, correspondence and statistical information
  • Proficiency of computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone,
  • Excellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constrains and within established deadlines, with particular
  • Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with business contacts
