SUPERVISOR: School Age Director/Site Coordinator

LOCATION: Lowell, MA

JOB TYPE: Part Time

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

A group leader is a role model who can assist with academic support and character development. Under the supervision of the Site Coordinator, a group leader plans and organizes groups pertaining to school age children and administer special activities, and implements daily activities relating to arts & crafts, physical activities and sports, character and team building exercises, and others.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Work closely with Site Coordinator to plan and implement the developmentally appropriate curriculum.

· Ensure and maintain the quality of the program and that it meets licensing requirements.

· Standards, YMCA of USA Initiatives (Active Learning and HEPA Initiatives) and complies with all

safety regulations.

· Program responsibilities include, but are not limited to the supervision of children, lesson planning, and daily attendance.

· Keep safety as a number one priority. Emphasize personal safety and emotional well-being of all staff, volunteers, members, students, families and program participants using the YMCA classrooms and indoor/facility.

· Maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the child care classroom.

· By personal example help interpret the quality of YMCA core values of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

· Performs other duties as required by supervisor (remains flexible).

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· High school degree required; some college preferred. At least 18 years of age.

· Previous experience providing programs/activities for youth.

· Excitement and positive attitude toward working with children.

· Commitment to the philosophy and goals of the YMCA.

Must have reliable transportation as you may move between our 7 school-age sites located in Lowell and Dracut

Education/Know How:

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Experience with Children: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
