Phoebe, a premier provider of high quality nursing and rehabilitative health care services to older adults, is seeking compassionate, caring Part Time, 2nd Shift Certified Nursing Assistants with long-term care experience to provide individualized, personal care to residents who are interested in joining our dedicated nursing team which provides the excellent quality of care Phoebe is known for at our Allentown campus.

Skills crucial to success in this role:

  • Assists with orienting residents and their families upon admission and to the neighborhood when transfers occur.
  • Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to use principles of good body mechanics in lifting, moving, and transporting residents. Maintains mechanical lift devices by keeping batteries charged and reporting mechanical failures to environmental services as needed.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with the geriatric resident during care and at meal times.
  • Receives report from charge nurse regarding resident conditions and updates care cards as needed.
  • Insures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all residents in a safe secure environment.
  • Provides individualized care to residents according to the resident's care plan including feeding, oral care, bathing, dressing, compression stockings, catheter care, ostomy care, splint/brace care, taking vital signs assigned by charge nurse, encouraging participation in restorative programs, and following behavior plans.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment. Keeps cords contained per protocol. Maintains safety devices as ordered. Assures resident equipment, including wheelchairs, power chairs, recliners, walkers, and other assistive devices are clean and in good repair. Purges tubs weekly per protocol.
  • Assures that resident’s glasses, dentures, and hearing aides are clean, present, in good repair and stored in the proper location when not in use.
  • Assures oxygen concentrator/tank is operating properly and water is filled in humidifier. Changes water in humidifier daily.
  • Observe changes in the resident's condition or behavior and reports these to the charge nurse immediately.
  • Provides care that maintains the resident’s skin integrity such as changing incontinent residents, turning and repositioning residents in bed etc.
  • Answers resident's call bells and responds to their needs promptly.
  • Prepares residents for appointments and assures they arrive timely with appropriate clothing/coats/shoes as needed; such as, therapy, beauty/barber shop, activities, clinics, outside appointments, etc.
  • Documents daily on electronic record.
  • Passes ice water and snacks to residents per protocol. Calculates cc’s of fluids consumed and enters into electronic record

Must Have's:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current CNA Certification in the state of Pennsylvania or eligibility and pursuit of certification
  • Three (3) month prior experience in long term care preferred.
