Care Attendant

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction/supervision of a charge nurse, assists the nursing staff in provision of basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients, i.e., personal hygience, activities of daily living and mobility. Assists in

maintenance of a safe and clean environments. May be required to transport medications as defined and authorized by Pharmacy Services.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE:

• 
  High School Diploma or GED

• 
  Excellent attendance record

• 
  Good communication and interpersonal skills

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Certification as a hospital attendant highly desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push and pull. Walking and standing most of shift.

WORK CONTACT GROUP: Patients, families, visitors, clergy, all members of the health care team, all hospital departments.

SUPERVISED BY: Charge Nurse/Nurse Manager/Registered Nurses.
