Job Description

We are looking for a Call Center Representative for the PBX-Communications Department at St. Jude Medical Center.

Location: Fullerton, CA

Work Schedule: On Call/ Per Diem

Shift: 8-hour, Days (Variable Shifts)

Job Summary:

Under moderate supervision, the PBX operator answers a multi-incoming computerized PBX system and directs calls to the appropriate extension, department or individual. Responsible for monitoring and responding appropriately to medical emergency alarms, fire, and equipment failure.

Essential Functions:

  • Answers all incoming and outgoing calls immediately and properly directs the customer to the appropriate department/person.
  • Respond immediately to all alarm and code indicators. Implement correct procedure as required, including documentation in shift reports.
  • Locates reference materials as required in a timely manner.
  • Maintains on call reference sheets for each department, as shift requires. Logs all updates and changes.
  • Creates and dispatches service calls for EVS, Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Interpreter Services, Spiritual Care, Central Transportation, and Security Dispatch (after hours as needed).
  • Respond to heavy call volume while properly prioritizing calls.
  • Operates the Cisco Call Manager console and CTI software.
  • Provides clear and concise public intercom, overhead paging and announcements.
  • Receives all disaster information accurately, and notifies all necessary personnel.
  • Properly utilizing the paging software, Everbridge for paging personnel

Skills:

  • Knowledge of campus layout.
  • Comprehension of general medical terms.
  • Knowledge of names/titles of key personnel and administration.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult callers and the demands of high volume call traffic.
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Minimum Position Requirements:

Experience:

  • 6 months answering service background, or professional switchboard operation.
  • Experience with heavy call traffic, multi-incoming and outgoing lines.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 2 years experience with computerized switchboard operation.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment.
