POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform coax and fiber installations within electrical codes and local ordinances to local system specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Technician performs pre-wires, additional outlets, fiber installations and all cable related services as required by customer.
- Proficiently perform RF Installations in a timely manner.
- Technician handles customer service issues related to installations.
- Keep assigned vehicle in a neat, stocked and organized manor.
- Perform RF troubleshooting back to the tap & understand return path functionality & troubleshooting techniques.
- Accurately use & demonstrate proficient use of FSM, Signal Leakage & Reverse test eq.
- Install, Wire, and troubleshoot MDU buildings.
- Complete commercial Installations, telephony installations, Cat3 & Cat5 wiring in a timely manner.
- Perform Fiber Optic installations into Commercial and industrial buildings.
- Safely operate saw and drills to complete fiber and coax installations.
- Perform any level of wall fishing.
- Perform quality control checks of your completed installations.
- Read general system layouts from blue prints and system maps.
PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
- Clearly and concisely communicate in a courteous and professional manner
- Handle various tasks simultaneously, organize, prioritize, make decisions and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines required
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Learn quickly and apply that knowledge
- Adaptability and being able to work individually and in a team environment
- Willing to travel
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR screen
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background screen and drug test
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, cleaning solutions
- Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night
- Work performed near power lines and electricity
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices
- Carry, climb, operate and work upon an extension ladder, (approximately 28 ft high and 80 pounds)
- Safely use weight-bearing equipment (safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of the equipment
- Body weight of no more than 275 pounds is required for ladder certification
- Differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
- Operate appropriate computer or test equipment associated with position
- Perform job from high places (i.e. poles and roofs in addition to an extension ladder)
- Use hand tools in the manner for which they were intended including electric drills, hammers, wrenches and screwdrivers
- Safely walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment including ladders and fully loaded tool belts
- Work while standing 75 to 90% of the time
- Work with small components and wire to make cable connections
