- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Business Analytics, Information Systems or related field.
- Experience with high-volume OLTP & OLAP database systems.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and ETL processes.
- Recent experience applying visualization tools such as Cognos, PowerBI and Tableau.
- Proven ability in understanding business processes, logical data models and relational database implementations.
- Proven track record of working on complex modular projects, and assuming a leading role in such projects.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, capable of defining own design and test scenarios.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will operate at the crossroads of multiple complex Amazon systems, getting global visibility of how Amazon moves inventory across our network and serves our customers. You will enable the creation of products that drive ever-greater automation, scalability and optimization of every aspect of transportation, removing cost and delivering speed of execution for our customers. The impact of your work will be global, material and remarkable. The successful candidate will be voraciously curious about Amazon’s transportation operations and how data consumed and produced by our systems can be used to improve outcomes and lower costs. You will be working in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments. You should have deep expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of extremely large datasets. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions, and to build data sets that answer those questions. You should be expert at designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the data warehouse and into end-user facing applications. You should be able to work with business customers in understanding the business requirements and implementing reporting solutions. Above all you should be passionate about bringing large datasets together to answer business questions and drive change.
Responsibilities:
- Build business intelligence (BI) solutions – data sets, queries, reports, dashboards, analyses – or components of larger solutions to answer business questions with data
- Learn, publish, analyze and improve management information dashboards, operational business metrics decks and key performance indicators.
- Improve tools, processes, scale existing solutions, create new solutions as required based on stakeholder needs.
- Design, develop and establish KPIs to provide strategic insights to drive growth and performance
- Troubleshoot data, analyses, and code, research root causes, propose solutions, and take ownership in next steps for their resolutions
- Ability to perform/own reoccurring and ad-hoc business intelligence projects
- Pull and report data from numerous databases (using Excel, SQL and/or other data management systems) and proven capability to dive deep and utilize known research and problem solving techniques
- Communicate complex insights to stakeholders, both verbally and in writing
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Analytics or related field.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects with business and technical teams.
- Experience with unstructure data manipulation, processing, and storage.
- Experience with AWS services (Redshift, S3, EC2, Lambda, SNS/SQS, RDS, Aurora) preferred.
- Experience with forecasting and statistical analysis.
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
- Experience with Microsoft BI technologies, e.g. SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS.
- Experience with at least one scripting language, i.e. Python, C#, Java etc.
