Job Description

The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for gathering, organizing, and analyzing data within the business to identify patterns, changes and/or opportunity within the strategic business unit. This can range from performance metrics to transactional detail data. The analyst will be required to summarize key points derived from the data and work the business unit team to develop recommended actions and a plan of attack. They are also responsible to help leadership define key metrics to drive the business unit towards its goal. They will be required to collaborate with corporate IT to create standard reporting and analytic tools.

Key focus areas:

  • Determine data needs, investigating data sources, and creating access to data requirements
  • Gathering, analyzing, and summarizing large data sets
  • Establishing new data gathering and analysis techniques within the organization
  • Generating BI reports to help keep the business unit focused on its goals
  • Analyze current business processes and make recommendations for improvement based on industry trends and professional business knowledge
  • Overseeing the implementation of approved process improvements
  • Improve training and operational procedures within a business to increase efficiency and productivity
  • Work directly with team to understand the individual needs of the business
  • Create and present reports to executive team members and shareholders to support recommendations
  • Use a variety of data analysis and organization tools to discover the most impactful insights

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer sciences or similar fields
  • Proficiency with data analytics and statistics
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques and analytic tools such as Excel, PowerBI, and OBIEE
  • Knowledge in database organization and database tools such as Microsoft SQL, mySQL, and Oracle SQL
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Result driven with the ability to work both as a team and independently while completing tasks with minimal supervision
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Project Management training/experience a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
