Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for nurturing existing national distribution channels while promoting National General Benefits Solutions to new and existing association, affinity and TPA business segments. This position will work closely with field distribution, home office, marketing, licensing, and product teams to drive multi-million dollar revenue centers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow existing national accounts and affinity/association relationships in the small/middle markets for level funded health plans
  • Overall lead for local sales offices, internal support teams, and related business unites across all facets of the National General enterprise in relation to assigned portfolio
  • Establish and build senior level relationships and leveraging them to drive new business
  • Support all national Accounts, Affinity/Association and TPA agency licensing functions
  • Directly responsible for assuming leadership of existing affinity partnerships and establishing and executing a growth plan for each
  • Will lead prospecting of new affinity partnerships in conjunction with local filed sales offices with the intention of growing the Affinity/Association segment to a robust distribution channel
  • Assume responsibility for select, emerging National Accounts
  • As partnerships grow, this position will coordinate with leadership (Director , Vice President) for senior level support and the development of unique growth initiatives
  • Analyze, engage and execute on new relationships that provide national production potential
  • Develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, from both a program manager and agency perspective. Then leverage it to build a solution strategy for our partners
  • Establish self in market as product & positioning expert (level funded/competitor landscape) by identifying industry trends and changing market regulations to best understand client impacts
  • Increase awareness of National General Benefits Solutions products and value proposition with respective agencies/clients
  • Identify industry trends and changing market regulations and understands impact on accounts
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of key decision makers and influencers
  • Support presentations to executive leadership teams and large groups of agents/buyers as well as leading these functions for certain partners
  • Understand, analyze and accurately interpret key financial performance indicators
  • Integrate information from ongoing business analysis and assessment into business plan, and executes the business plan to achieve desired results
  • Provide recurring reporting to senior leadership on Affinity/Association and TPA growth, retention as well as special reporting to Affinity/Association partners
  • Direct sales responsibility selling to the ‘C Suite’ or senior executives where applicable, and establishing long term relationships that must be leveraged to drive new and protect existing business

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • Experience selling health insurance products at an executive level on the agency or carrier side
  • A&H Sales – Health and Life license or ability to acquire within 60 days of hire
  • Knowledge of level funding, self-funding, underwriting, and actuarial science
  • Negotiation, presentation and sales skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills to manage, negotiate and build relationships internally and externally with clients.
  • Ability to address customer needs and make sound decisions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build customer relations
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%

Desired Skills:

  • 3+ of years of experience within the health insurance space
  • 2+ of years of experience in the level funded market selling and/or account management
  • 2+ of year management experience of sales/account management teams
  • Strategy development experience
  • Manage many different type of accounts and grow them independently
  • Proven success in value-based, solution selling and ability to work in cross-functional
  • Executive level business and financial acumen including the ability to analyze and extrapolate data to drive and support long term decision making
